We recommend installation to be performed by a reputable composite experienced body shop. COMPOSITE HOODS AND TRUNK LIDS
- This is a two person job.
- Some hoods/trunks require that you un-bolt your striker/latch mechanism from your OE hood/trunk and re-install it onto your new composite product.
- Tape off top edge of fenders or rear quarter panels to prevent scuffing of paint.
- When aligning hood/trunk lid with fenders/rear quarter panels leave hinge bolts loose and adjust the hood/trunk accordingly, then raise only enough to tighten bolts.
- The latch mechanism or striker located on your vehicle may need to be adjusted to better line up with the striker or latch mechanism on your new hood or trunk lid.
- Trunk lids only - Remove or un-hook your trunk lid assist springs. These springs aid your trunk to rise when opening, giving it a weightless feeling. Those springs are too strong for these light weight composite trunk lids. Once the trunk lid is installed the springs may be re-installed to test their compatibility with your new trunk lid. If applicable, adjust the spring tension to suit.
Each carbon fiber hood, trunk lid and accessories come complete with a factory applied clear coat to enhance gloss, but also to protect against UV rays which can cause yellowing and hazing over time.
- Any clear coat safe detailing products or procedures can be applied.
- We recommend hand washing with a high quality sheep skin/chenille wash mitt to help prevent scratching.
- Dry using only high quality synthetic chamois.
